In class, Laura talks about the benefits of using the colors of the rainbow in order, so that's what I did with this pattern. The squiggly lined image is from a PTI set called Ombre Builders, and since this is the first time I'm using it, I am going to enter this card in Darnell's NBUS Challenge #3.
I have another card I would like to enter into three challenges: Virginia's View for the theme 'Clean Slate' (I chose a one layer card), for a brand new challenge at Happy Little Stampers Blog - CAS! And, the theme for this first challenge is 'Water Coloring' and of course for the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - 'Anything Goes'! Here is my card:
For this card, I embossed a square using my stylus tool and stamped the hummingbird in black, then embossed with clear powder. I used my Inktense water color pencils to add color, layering the body with aqua and blue until I got the color I wanted, then coloring the wings with purple. The tiny sprig and sentiment are from Mama Elephant.
So, that's it for me...thanks so much for stopping by,
Came over to swoon over your rainbow ombre card. Absolutely love it, and it is totally inspired by Laura Bassen--I saw that right away. Love how you added that bit of gold. And, your second card is so stunning. Love that one too. That hummingbird image is so pretty, and I love how you colored it.
ReplyDeleteLove it Barb! Those vibrant colours and that touch of gold really makes this card pop! Hazel x

ReplyDeleteStraight to the head of the class, Barb! Your squiggly-lined rainbow card is such a delight, and I agree with Hazel: the peek of gold is a wonderful added touch. Your water-coloured hummingbird is oh-so-pretty! Makes me long for spring, especially since we're at a 'balmy' -40C today. Didn't even poke our noses outside. Andy headed back home, so I'm missing him immensely, but I'm where I need to be: with my mom. I'm practicing using my Chameleon pens...still...
