Addicted to CAS #65 - Butterfly

Hi everyone ~
It's time for another challenge at Addicted to CAS, and our code word is Butterfly! Our hostess with the mostest is the Uber Talented Bonnie, and we are thrilled to have Flo as our Guest Designer for the month of June! Our sponsor for this challenge is Stamplorations ~ They are offering the winner a $10.00 voucher to the store!

Ever since I saw This Video by Jennifer McGuire on Faux Detailed Letterpress, I just had to try it.

Here is a close up of the Hawaiian Shores ink on the butterflies (it's really subtle):

I used Letterpress cardstock (Ellen Hutson), and I think it created a crisp, clean effect. I used Hero Arts Ombre ink pads for the Penny Black sentiment and added a few pearls, and that was it!

Since I used the ombre technique on the die cut word, I would like to enter this card into Virginia's View Challenge #15 for the theme 'Ombre/Monochromatic' ~

For my second card, I die cut a heart mask with my Silhouette, and inked it with SSS Sea Glass ink:

I saw a card that used the Memory Box die just like this, and thought I would make it myself :) I started by coloring a piece of cardstock with Copic markers in rainbow order, then die cutting all of the butterflies and gluing them on to the heart. I added a Lawn Fawn sentiment, a few resin stars, and mounted the panel onto a black card base.

I hope you'll take the time to stop over at the Addicted to CAS Blog to see what my amazing teammates have created, and to play along with us in this week's challenge! Have a fun and crafty weekend ~ Thanks so much for stopping by,

Barb, both of your cards are very eyecatching. Your faux letterpress is so soft and delicate. Your die cut heart of butterflies is vibrant and fun. Great day of card making.

These are both just gorgeous cards. That second one must have taken a week, but so worth it, I think, for the stunning effect. Definitely send that one to a fellow card maker, because they will know how much work it was.

Barb, these are both gorgeous!! I still haven't tried the letterpress technique. You've done such a good job with it, the butterflies look amazing. And your rainbow butterfly is stunning! All the hard work with all those fiddly pieces was so worth it. Wanted to let you know that your rainbow card would be good for the SSS Work it Wednesday challenge as their theme is 'rainbow'.
