Addicted to CAS Card Challenge

Hi there, blog friends! Today starts a new challenge at Addicted to CAS  ~ Bobby is our Hostess, and she is challenging everyone to create a card using the Code Word ‘Flower’. Our Guest Designer is Maja.

This delicate daisy works really well for a CAS card design. I placed a scrap of alcohol inked Yupo paper behind it because I love how the colors swirl and blend. I added a simple sentiment, and that was it!

We would love to see how the code word ‘Flower’ inspires you! If you would like to see inspiration from the Design Team and play along with us, come on over and check out the ATCAS Blog ~

Thanks so much for stopping by,

Reminder - July CAS Stencil Challenge

A quick reminder that we have a really fun technique to use on your cards at the CAS Stencil Challenge...Alcohol Inks/Lift.

I started by adding several colors of alcohol inks to a panel of Yupo Silver Sparkle Paper. While that dried, I die cut the butterfly, then created my own stencil with the flourish die and a piece of acetate. The alcohol lift ink didn't work very well to remove the ink from the panel, so I tried a Copic Colorless Blender Pen and traced the flourish...it worked like a charm! Lastly, I added a few clear gems and embossed the sentiment with silver EP. And that was it :)

I hope you'll check out the CAS Stencil Challenge ~ Our Guest Designer is Janet (Swanlady Impressions), our Hostess Cathy has provided links to several great videos, and my teamies have created some amazing cards to inspire you!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

Challenge me a Christmas Card

Hi there blog friends ~
Several weeks ago, my Fusion teamie Michelle Lupton invited me to join her for her annual 'Challenge me a Christmas Card Series'. Michelle invites a guest to challenge her with a Christmas card theme, product or technique, then she and her guest post their interpretation of the challenge...

I've been eager to try the Alcohol Lift Ink Technique again, and Michelle agreed. I found an old Hero Arts stamp set with lots of details and created this card:

I started by inking the background from the top about 1/2 way down, and when dry I added the falling snow with Glimmer Paste. Then, I used alcohol ink on Yupo Paper in 2 colors and applied alcohol lift ink to the stamps. On screen, it looks a bit like emboss resist, but in person, the effect is rather unique. I wanted to keep the card as CAS as possible, so I fussy cut the trees, die cut the snow drift, and added the sentiment...and that was it :)

If you would like to learn more about this technique, Jen McGuire has a blog post and video tutorial...Here ~

I would like to take a moment to thank Michelle for inviting me to play along in her Challenge me a Christmas Card Series...I had a lot of fun creating my card and can't wait to see what Michelle created with this technique!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

CAS Christmas & CAS Mix Up July Challenges

Hi there, blog friends ~
If you're a frequent visitor to my blog, you know how much I enjoy playing along with Loll and Bonnie's challenges...well, today I'm sharing a few cards I created for the CAS Christmas Challenge and CAS Mix Up Challenge ~

When it comes to flowers, I always look to Altenew and sure enough, their Poinsettia is perfect ~

There are four steps to this bloom, which I stamped with Hero Arts ink cubes. I spritzed sheer shimmer spray on the flowers and leaves and added Prills to the center of the flower. The leaves were a birthday gift from Loll (thank you again!).

Here is a close-up of the Prills...it's too bad the shimmer doesn't photograph well:

My 2nd card is for the CAS Mix Up Challenge - Color our die cuts, stamping and our choice.

I used alcohol inks to color the die cut 'Color Drops' and after I stamped the sentiment, I added clear embossing powder (my choice) for dimension. A very simple card, but I love the effects of the alcohol inks when the colors blend...so pretty!
So, that's it for me...I hope everyone is having a great week ~

Thanks so much for stopping by,

April CAS Watercolor & CAS Christmas

Hi there, blog friends! Once again, I'm playing along with Loll &  Bonnie's challenges ~ First up is the CAS Watercolor Challenge and the theme is 'Bird'.

Here is my take on the challenge:

I have several bird dies, but I think this Concord & 9th set works best for watercoloring. I used Peerless watercolors using the same colors, but different 'markings' on each bird. There is a removable border around the branch and birds, which I peeled off to expose the blue watercoloring on the card base. Also, I used gold gems from an old Prima set for the eyes and placed everything onto a white woodgrain panel.

Last month, Loll &  Bonnie started a new challenge ~ CAS Christmas and the theme for this month is Ornament!

And, my card...

I had alcohol inks in my stash for years, used them twice and finally gave them away about 3 years ago to a dear friend...then, when I saw all of the gorgeous cards using them in blogland, I bought them again :)
I used 3 shades of blue/teal and once dry, I die cut the ornaments. To create the faux string, I used my Versamark pen to draw a line and embossed them (and the sentiment) with Altenew Rose Gold, which is gorgeous in person! For both cards, I deliberately left off any gems or enamel dots to keep the focus on the birds and ornaments...very clean and very simple!

Stay tuned for the May CAS Christmas Challenge...as the winner of their first challenge, I will be their Guest Designer ~ Woot!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and especially for your lovely comments...I read every one, and appreciate them very much ~ Have a great week!
