Addicted to CAS Card Challenge

Hello crafty friends! Today starts a new challenge at Addicted to CAS  ~ Sue N. is our Hostess, and she is challenging everyone to create a card using the Code Word ‘Circle.

I love these cute little penguins from Clearly Besotted. There are several stamps in this set depicting the four seasons, and I chose a few of my faves for this challenge. I used Copic markers to color them and placed them inside the trio of stitched circles and added the scalloped border. I embossed the card base to add texture and added a few gems for sparkle.

We would love to see how the code word ‘Circle’ inspires you! If you would like to see inspiration from the Design Team, and play along with us, come on over and check out the ATCAS Blog ~

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Happy Holidays

Hi there, blog friends! It’s time for the May challenge at CAS Christmas. Our Hostess is Christine and she has chosen ‘Foliage & Berries’ for our prompt. Our Guest Designer is Robyn.

I've been shopping at The Greetery lately and I thought this branch and berries die was perfect for our prompt. I used distress inks to watercolor the branch then sprayed it with sheer shimmer spritz and left the outline white. I die-cut the bow (also The Greetery) with white glitter cardstock and used gold embossing powder for the sentiment. Here is a close-up of all the sparkle on the branch.

***************************

I wasn't 100% happy with my card...it just doesn't feel CAS enough. So, I pulled out a stencil, which was a gift from Loll, and I got busy ~

Thanks, Loll! I should have reached for this stencil, to begin with :)
I used distress inks to color the holly, berries and stems then placed a layer of Nuvo Glimmer Paste over the top. I then used gold foil cardstock for the die-cut sentiment and gold embossing powder for the stamped sentiment.

We hope you’ll stop by the Challenge Blog and check out all the beautiful Christmas cards by our DT and Guest Designer...The challenge ends on the 24th, so you have plenty of time to play along with us...It’s a great way to add some beautiful cards to your Christmas card stash! I hope to see you there ~

Thanks so much for stopping by,

Hugs & Kisses

Hi there blog friends ~ It's time for a new challenge at Fusion and this time our prompt is ‘Floral Cupcakes’.  For my card, I chose to go with a loose interpretation of the sketch and the color palette on the inspiration photo...

I thought it would be fun to use this NBUS cover plate for the sketch and these cute little penguins fit perfectly :) Some Copic coloring and an embossed sentiment, and this card was complete.

Don't forget the best thing about the Fusion Card Challenge is that you can choose between the sketch and the theme/inspiration photo, or both! My teamies have created some beautiful cards to inspire you, so feel free to stop by the challenge blog and play along with us!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

CAS Stencil Challenge Reminder

Hello friends!  Just a reminder that there is still time to link up your card for the April CAS Stencil Card Challenge.  Cathy is hosting this month and she is challenging everyone to use ‘Gilding Flakes’ with your stencils. As always, there are several links to techniques over at CAS Stencil Blog for your inspiration.

I used my Copper Gilding Flakes for the birds and Copper Embossing Powder for the sentiment. Underneath the sentiment strip, I added another layer with Copper Foil Cardstock. A very simple card with a great message for someone who needs encouragement.

There's lots of Design Team inspiration over at CAS Stencil Blog - as well as from our talented Guest Designer, Mac (The Sweetest of Peas) ~ And, don't forget there are also a few links to video tutorials.

You have until the 24th to link up your card...I hope to see you there!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

Sending Hugs

Hi there blog friends ~ It's time for a new challenge at Fusion and our prompt is ‘Nature’.  This time I used the colors from the inspiration photo and the sketch for my design...

I thought these cute little penguins would be perfect for this sketch. The stamp set is called 'All Four Seasons', so I stamped one for each season :) It's hard to see on screen, but I colored an element on each one in lavender (the pom-pom on winter, the flower for spring, the swimmer's tube for summer and the coffee cup for autumn). The circular pattern is from a background stamp and I used distress ink to darken the thin strip under the sentiment.

Don't forget the best thing about the Fusion Card Challenge is that you can choose between the sketch and the theme/inspiration photo, or both! My teamies have created some beautiful cards to inspire you, so feel free to stop by the challenge blog and play along with us!

CAS on Friday Challenge - Sketch .

Hi there blog friends! Over the weekend, I took a short break from re-organizing my craft room to play along with the CAS on Friday Challenge, and this time, they have a sketch for us ~

I thought it would be fun to play with my new dragonflies from MFT...

I started by stamping, then coloring one of the dragonflies with Copic markers, then popped it up on a wonky circle that I stenciled with clouds :) I used my Scor Pal to emboss diagonal lines on the horizontal panel, then I embossed the sentiment in gold EP and added a few sparkly sequins. Lastly, I added a touch of Clear WOS to the wings and this card was complete!

I hope all of my North American friends are having a wonderful Labor Day!

Fusion Challenge - Rustic Flowers

Hi there blog friends ~ It's time for a new challenge at Fusion and this time our theme is 'Rustic Flowers'! I decided to go with the sketch and use the colors on the blooms in the inspiration photo:

I started by using Versamark to ink the stone gray panel with a woodgrain stamp and swiping the thin strip (also with Versamark), and not adding any clear embossing powder. I thought wildflowers could be considered 'rustic', so I inked the flower petals in pale peach and used coral for the flower center. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment and added a few silver sequins...and that was it!

We would love to have you join us at the Fusion Challenge! My fellow teammates have created some amazing cards to inspire everyone, and since the challenge lasts 2 weeks, there's plenty of time to play along ~

A few more CAS Challenges

Hello again, blog friends ~
I'm back to share a quick post for 2 of my favorite challenges. First up is the CAS Christmas June Challenge, and the theme is Masculine

I love, love, love this Stag Stencil and I think it's perfect for a masculine Christmas card. I inked the stencil with Delicata Gold and added a thin gold foil border before mounting it on a black card base.
If you are interested, you can buy this and other stencils at Sarah Gray's Folksy Store.

Next is a card I created for the CAS Watercolor June Challenge for the theme 'Ocean':

I started by creating a wash with Peerless Watercolors in a few shades of blue and aqua. After stamping the fish and seaweed, I colored the mermaid with Copic markers and added a few bubbles with PTI Rainstones. And that was it!

This is an NBUS stamp set by Wild Rose Studio, which I colored with Copic markers and added glittery snowflakes. I added a sentiment and a thin red mat, and this card was completed! Here is a close-up of the snow:

Hi there blog friends ~
I've been working on my DT projects for the past several days, but the doors are about to close on one of my favorite challenges, and I wanted to play along. This week's cue card at CASology is 'Parent', so I thought it was a great opportunity to create a Mother's Day card for my mom ~

I've been on the hunt for this retired PTI stamp set for ages and finally found someone who was selling some of her gently used stamp sets...I used a few Altenew inks gifted to me by a sweet friend for the vases and added some teeny-tiny enamel dots with Nuvo drops for the Orchid.

Thanks so much for stopping by,

Stamps: PTI - Gracious Vases; Clearly Besotted Stamps - Fresh Flowers (sentiment)
Inks: Memento - London Fog; Altenew - Sweet Leaf,  Coral Berry, Aqualicious

Hello again! Check out those adorable Pandas!!! When I saw Kim Heggin's card for this weeks' Muse Challenge, I had to play along :)

I played around with a few balloons and critters and couldn't seem to come up with anything as cute as Kim's design, so I decided to keep it simple and use my heart balloons. I used Kim's:

- Birthday theme
- Balloons

And, that was it for my playtime in the craft room...I hope everyone is having a great week ~

Fusion Challenge - Rain or Shine

Hi all ~ It's time for a brand new challenge at Fusion and our theme is 'Rain or Shine'! In the U.S., we'll be getting lots of showers over the next several weeks and before we know it, our flowers will be in full bloom!

I was inspired by those 2 adorable little girls in the photo and used the color palette from their raincoats and boots for my rain boots. I popped up the clouds with foam tape and embossed the raindrops in silver. I also thought it would be fun to include a few puddles across the bottom of the card and stamp the sentiment on and off the cloud.

As always, my teamies have created some amazing cards for this challenge...Stop by the Fusion Challenge Blog and check them out and of course, we would love it if you could join us!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

CAS Watercolor; CAS on Friday

Hi there ~
I've been MIA for the last 2 weeks getting ready for the holidays, but I love playing in challenges and couldn't resist joining in a few...

First up is a card for CAS Watercolor December Challenge for the theme 'Anything Goes'

For this 5" x 7" card, I used Peerless Watercolors (love how they blend) for the background and MFT Ski-Sons Greetings for the bear and sentiment. The stitched snow drifts are also by MFT and the splatters were created with Copic opaque white paint. Lastly, I colored the bear with Copic markers.

**************************************

My 2nd card is for this week's challenge at CAS on Friday for the theme 'Christmas'

Here, I used the mistletoe from MFT Grateful stamp set, Joy die and the ornament from Happy Pawlidays. I colored the ornament with Copic markers and added Pico Embellisher to give it some shine. The bow is from Clearly Besotted Stamps Ornamental Style set...and that was it!

I'll be back tomorrow to share a card for the next challenge at ATCAS...hope to see you then ~
Thanks so much for stopping by.,,I appreciate it very much and I always enjoy reading your comments!

CASology Challenge #251 - Medicine

Hi everyone ~ Thanks to all who made suggestions about my 'smashed' foil die cuts! In the end, I bought new plates, ran the die through closer to the edge of the plate and added a piece of copy paper underneath to serve as a shim...it worked much better! Also, using my old Grand Calibur didn't help at all.

I'm sure it's no surprise that I'm playing along with one of my favorite challenges again this week...CASology, and the cue card is 'Medicine'!

I thought it would be fun to take out my MFT Band-Aid dies and this sweet little Lawn Fawn bird and create my card. My apologies for the poor photo, we have had overcast skies for the past few days ~

Color me Nancy Nurse, but I always put a little antibiotic on a wound before I apply a Band-Aid, so I hope this fits with the cue card. The wonky stitched border was also intentional for the theme :) Before I matted the white panel, I added glossy accents to the birds' beak and clear EP to make the sentiment shine.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead ~ Thanks so much for stopping by,
