I love to create a card using a special technique, so when my sweet friend Virginia Lu started a challenge blog featuring water coloring, I took out my distress inks and Inktense pencils and got going! Here is the gorgeous inspiration photo from Her Blog
As I was working, the ideas kept coming, so in the end, I have 4 cards to enter in her challenge:
On this card, I stamped the Leafy Vines and Butterfly on to separate sheets of water color paper and heat embossed each one. Then, I inked the card base with Salty Ocean and Broken China, and the butterfly with Peacock Feathers and Mustard Seed, then misted with water. The butterfly was popped up with Glue Dots.
This is one of my all time favorite stamps. I just heat embossed with Hero Arts White EP, and water colored the flowers and leaves with Broken China, Salty Ocean and Mowed Lawn, stamped the sentiment on vellum, and added a few tiny vellum butterflies and gems.
Here, I used my Inktense Pencils (yellow, orange and red) for the banner, die cut my new PTI Button Stacks in felt, and mounted it onto a woodgrain card base from SSS. I also added those cute little stars from Delish Beads.
For my last card, I couldn't resist playing with my Hero Arts Painted Flower stamp. I think the organic nature of this stamp lends itself to water coloring, so for this card I did selective inking with Distress Inks (mustard seed and mowed lawn), spritzed it and stamped it onto a white card base (PTI Stamper's Select, which is very heavy cardstock). I used an understated sentiment, as I wanted the flower to be the star of the show!
Well, thank you so much for hanging in there with this 'photo heavy' post! There are 12 more days to enter Virginia's Challenge, so I hope you'll consider hopping on over there for details and lots of inspiration!
