Addicted to CAS Card Challenge - Christmas

Hello crafty friends! Today starts a new challenge at Addicted to CAS ~ Nancy is our Hostess, and she is challenging everyone to create a card using the Code Word ‘Christmas’

I like creating Christmas cards with a non-traditional color palette. For this card, I chose pumice stone and shaded lilac distress inks. I started with a loose lilac watercolor for the background and I blended pumice stone ink lightly onto stone gray cardstock before die-cutting the mistletoe. I used DOX ink for the berries and bow to get a pop of color then I brushed everything with a crystal clear marker to add sparkle to the design.

We would love to see how the code word ‘Christmas’ inspires you! If you would like to see inspiration from the Design Team and play along with us, come on over and check out the ATCAS Blog ~

Thanks so much for stopping by,

Joy To The World

Hi there, blog friends! It’s time for the July challenge at CAS Christmas. Our Hostess is Marcia and she has chosen ‘Nativity’ for our prompt...also, our fabulous Guest Designer is Jane

Every so often, I like using silhouette stamps on my cards, and I think it was perfect for stamping a nativity scene. I started this 5x7 card by stenciling clouds in the background and sponging a small amount of Antique Linen for the ground. There are several stamps in this set, but I wanted to keep it simple and stamped only the manger and trees. Lastly, I added the sentiment, a few clear gems, and the star which was cut with silver glitter cardstock.

We hope you’ll stop by the CAS Christmas Challenge Blog and check out all the beautiful Christmas cards by our DT and Guest Designer. The challenge ends on the 24th, so you have plenty of time to play along with us...It's a great way to get started on your Christmas cards!

Fusion Card Challenge - Butterfly Wreath

Hi there blog friends ~ It's time for a new challenge at Fusion and this time our prompt is ‘Butterfly Wreath’. Today, I decided to go with the inspiration photo for my card:

I started by using a white woodgrain panel, although it's very hard to see on screen. Here is a close-up

I die cut the butterflies and wreath and blended DOX inks to color them, and used gold foil to die cut the sentiment and bow. A few sparkly sequins and gold embossing on the stamped sentiment, and this card was complete!

Don't forget the best thing about the Fusion Card Challenge is that you can choose between the sketch and the inspiration photo, or both! My teamies have created some beautiful cards to inspire you, so feel free to stop by the challenge blog and play along with us!

12 Days of Christmas with Kylie & Friends

Hi there blog friends! It's that time of year, and once again Kylie (owner, Happy Little Stampers) is sponsoring her 12 Days of Christmas Card Challenge!

Happy Little Stampers was created in 2015 by Kylie (owner of ATSM and ATCAS). Kylie wanted to bring out a line of stamps that were useful for everyday crafters. From cute to whimsical images, from every day to funky sentiments there is something for everyone!

So, in the spirit of Christmas, I created this card:

Back in August, I was inspired by this card created by Nancy Littrell and immediately ordered this die...I created the sky with watercolors and dotted it with a glue pen and fine glitter. I added the deer for interest and embossed the sentiment in silver.

Kylie is offering random prizes for a shopping spree at Happy Little Stampers, so if you're looking for some fabulous inspiration and would like to play along, join us!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and a special thank you to Kylie for asking me to take part in her challenge!

April CAS Watercolor & CAS Christmas

Hi there, blog friends! Once again, I'm playing along with Loll &  Bonnie's challenges ~ First up is the CAS Watercolor Challenge and the theme is 'Bird'.

Here is my take on the challenge:

I have several bird dies, but I think this Concord & 9th set works best for watercoloring. I used Peerless watercolors using the same colors, but different 'markings' on each bird. There is a removable border around the branch and birds, which I peeled off to expose the blue watercoloring on the card base. Also, I used gold gems from an old Prima set for the eyes and placed everything onto a white woodgrain panel.

***********************************

Last month, Loll &  Bonnie started a new challenge ~ CAS Christmas and the theme for this month is Ornament!

And, my card...

I had alcohol inks in my stash for years, used them twice and finally gave them away about 3 years ago to a dear friend...then, when I saw all of the gorgeous cards using them in blogland, I bought them again :)
I used 3 shades of blue/teal and once dry, I die cut the ornaments. To create the faux string, I used my Versamark pen to draw a line and embossed them (and the sentiment) with Altenew Rose Gold, which is gorgeous in person! For both cards, I deliberately left off any gems or enamel dots to keep the focus on the birds and ornaments...very clean and very simple!

Stay tuned for the May CAS Christmas Challenge...as the winner of their first challenge, I will be their Guest Designer ~ Woot!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and especially for your lovely comments...I read every one, and appreciate them very much ~ Have a great week!

Let it Snow!!!

Hi everyone ~
There's nothing like a few fun challenges to get that mojo flowing, so I am back to share a tag and two cards that I created over the past few days ~

First up is a tag for the MUSE Christmas Visions Challenge #89 for a Christmas or winter themed tag in collaboration with Tracey’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags - Day 15. I am also entering this tag into Loll’s 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge - Day 12.

For this tag, I used Distress Inks with the smooshing technique for the background, Copic markers for the house and trees, heat embossing, acrylic paint (splatters) and die cutting.

This week's Cue Card at CASology is 'Sharp'...I think the antlers on the Stag look quite sharp, so I hope it works for the Cue ~

My sweet blog friend Sarah Gray,  created this beautiful Stag stencil, and when I saw how she recently used it on several cards, I decided to purchase it through her Folksy Shop. I used Pumice Stone distress ink for the Stag and Versafine and clear embossing powder for the sentiment. I will be using this card as a thank you for Christmas gifts, so I added the jingle bells and twine from my stash.

My last card is for 2 challenges: Muse Card Club #242 and this week our Muse is Ardyth, who created this beautiful Christmas card to inspire us ~

And, my card ~

I focused on Ardyth’s:
- Die Cut Tree
- Color Combo

I am also entering this card into the Happy Little Stampers November Challenge for the theme 'Anything Goes with Dies’
I used SSS White Glimmery cardstock and I added small sparkly sequins to some of the tree branches.

So, that's it for me! Have a great week ahead ~ Thanks so much for stopping by,

Hello, Sweet Friend ~ You're So Sweet!

Hello there, blog friends! I'm back to share two cards I created for a few of my favorite challenges. First up is the CAS Watercolor and CAS Mix Up Challenges.

So, it's a Butterfly for CAS Watercolor and Stamping, Tissue Paper, and stenciling for CAS Mix Up!

Last week I submitted a card for both challenges, and I created a few extra panels using the Tissue Paper Technique. For this card, I used one of those panels to die cut the butterfly, and I love how it turned out! Check out Loll's video tutorial ~ It's a lot of fun and the results are amazing ~
- Stamping: Sentiment
- Tissue Paper: Butterfly
- My Choice: Stenciling

By the way, if you haven't played along in these challenges you're missing out! Loll and Bonnie always come up with the most interesting and 'challenging' ideas...Check them out!

CAS Watercolor June Challenge

Hi there,
A quick post to share a card I created for another one of my favorite challenges ~ CAS Watercolor - June Challenge for the theme 'Summer'.

Living on the coast affords me the luxury of a 45 minute drive to the beach whenever I like, so I thought I would share the view from my beach chair ~

I  used Peerless Watercolors for the sky and DI's to create the waves with a Hero Arts background stamp, then gave it a spritz with some shimmer spray. I pieced the boat to have white sails and backed it with foam to add dimension. A few sweet little seagulls and sea shells, and that was it!
Thanks so much for stopping by,
