Muse Card Challenge #250; SSS Flickr Challenge #89

Hi there blog friends ~ I'm back to share a few cards I've been working on...First one is for this week's challenge at Muse. Kim Heggins created this adorable card to inspire us:

While rummaging through my stash, I spotted these MFT arched dies and thought it would be fun to use them for my card...

These little MFT critters make me happy, and they work perfectly with the arch dies...I colored each one with Copic markers and stenciled the clouds behind them. The sentiment is from PTI.

My 2nd card is for the current SSS Flickr Challenge for the theme 'Friendship'.

I used SSS Sending Flowers stamp set for the blooms and Sending/Wishing for the stamped sentiment. The 'hugs' die cut is also SSS and it's one of my all-time faves :)

Twofer Challenge #1 - Feathers

Hello everyone ~

I'm sliding in at the last minute, but couldn't resist playing along in Darnell's brand new challenge called 'Twofers'!  The challenge is to make two different cards with the same stamp for two different occasions and according to the challenge theme (feathers). With a stellar DT, I think this is going to be a really fun challenge, and I can't wait to see more of their ideas throughout the year! I love everything about this challenge...Count me in!!!

I used PTI's Swan'sational stamp set for both cards, starting with ink blending and splattering to create the look of water on the first card. 

I also used PTI's Soft Stone ink for the swans and refrained from adding details on their beaks. I clear embossed the shapes for the pond water and added a double slanted banner for the sentiment!

Card #2 ~ Well, it is a 'Twofer', right?

I love how you get a heart shape when you place the swans facing each other...so of course, I created a wedding card! I also embossed the pond water with white EP, but it's hard to see in the photo...let's see if this helps:

A little better, I guess...it looks really pretty in person, so that's that :)

I would like to take the time to wish Darnell and her amazing team much success with their new Twofer Challenge! I know it's going to be lots of fun, and I plan to play along in all future challenges!

Addicted to CAS Challenge #128

Hi there, blog friends! It's time for a new challenge at Addicted to CAS and as hostess I have chosen 'Ombre' for the code word. 

Here is my take on the code word:

I used SSS Audrey Blue ink to create the ombre effect on the MFT sentiment and added a few stars from Mama Elephant's Confetti die.

I had lots of new goodies on my desk, so I decided to create a 2nd card:

The same layout, except a different die cut and I moved the sentiment banner down to enhance the ink blending on the die cut

Muse Card Challenge #249

Hi there, blog friends ~

When I saw Tracey's beautiful watercoloring and adorable penguin for Muse this week, I had to play along!

I ruined 4 pieces of Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock trying to re-create Tracey's gorgeous background, and finally gave up ~

Even though my watercoloring attempts failed, I still wanted to create a snowy hill for my bear...So, I masked off the bottom on an angle and ink blended with distress ink. I found a small stamp in the MFT Distress Patterns set and used it to emboss the snow kicking up behind the bear :) Lastly, I added Glossy Accents to the goggles...and that was it!

I focused on Tracey's:

- Snowy Hill/Outdoor Scene

- Embossed Sentiment Strip

CASology Challenge - Hug

Hi there ~

I'm back with a quick post to share a card I created for this week's challenge at CASology ~ I have several 'Hugs' dies, but this one from PTI is my fave...

We are experiencing overcast skies today, so I apologize for the dark photo. 

I started by stamping 'Sending' with Versafine Onyx black ink, and before I stacked the letters, I left the flower petals and leaves in one layer and colored them with Copics. I poked out the top layer for a clean look and added the B&W striped border.

January Challenges

Hi there! I'm back to share a few cards that I created for Loll and Bonnie's fabulous January challenges ~ My first card is for the CAS Watercolor Challenge and the theme is 'Birthday' 

I used Brushos to create a watercolor panel for the foliage and I mixed pink and orange from my Koi watercolors to create coral for the bloom. I made a big mess with my distress inks for the vertical striped pattern, so I finally stamped them with dye inks to get a crisp image.

My 2nd card is for the January CAS Mix Up Challenge and this month, they are asking us to use 'Cling Wrap' ~ So FUN! Loll and Bonnie always provide links to video tutorials and for my card, I used Lydia Fiedler's Technique for my watercolored panel~

I created 5 panels before I was happy with the colors, and I still wish it was a little brighter. The curved die cut is from MFT, and I thought it was a fun way to reveal this technique. Besides using Cling Wrap, I stamped the bird, hat, and sentiment and 'my choice' for this card is die cutting.

My take on the code word:

I thought it would be fun to go with a rainbow of musical notes and keep the design simple. I used distress inks to color each one and I added a few sparkly hearts.
