Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #302; SSS Flickr Challenge #78 - Dots and/or Stripes

Hi there,
I've been busy in my craft room for the past few days and of course, enjoying PTI's Stamp-A-Faire videos :) So, today I'm sharing 2 cards that I created for a few challenges ~

First up is Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #302 with a sketch by Cecile:

Such a great sketch and I love the color combo she chose for it, too :) Here is my take:

A few weeks ago, CASology used the cue card 'Safari' and Hannelie's card is what inspired me to check out the Silhouette store for some images. I stamped the sun using the Altenew Half-tone circles and the sentiment is from SSS...and that was it!

*******************************

Next up is the card I created for the current SSS Flickr Challenge, and the theme is 'Dots and/or Stripes':

I think dots are a lot of fun on a card, so I took out my old circle punches and a few dies to create stencils with Post It Notes. The sentiment is from SSS, which I stacked five high for dimension...Done and dusted :)

Wishing you all a great week ahead ~ Thanks so much for stopping by,

Freshly Made Sketches - Challenge #301

Hi there ~
I'm back to share a card I created for this week's challenge at Freshly Made Sketches. The sketch is by Jen B. and I love it!

I would like to get back to creating some Christmas cards, so that's how I played with the sketch ~

I started by creating my own plaid pattern with Post-It tape, using 2 shades of green and one of red, then used PTI Spruce & Sprigs for the holly and berries. The scalloped panel is from MFT and the sentiment is from an old Hero Arts stamp set.

So...that's it for me ~ I hope everyone has a fun and crafty week ahead!

Muse Card Challenge #229

Hi there ~ I haven't played along with Muse in a few weeks and when I saw Tracey's adorable inspiration card, I couldn't resist! Here is her card:

And, my take on her card:

I focused on Tracey's layout and blue background, although instead of ink blending I thought it would be fun to use this whimsical stencil. I also added the oval shadow die cut for the bear to stand on and some glossy accents on the balloons :)

Ingredients:
MFT: Bold Paisley Stencil, Polar Bear Pals, Happy Hippos (balloons), Up in the Air (sentiment), Essential Speech Bubble
Copic Markers, Lucy's Cards (sequins)

CASology Challenge #261; SSS Flickr Challenge #77

Hello again,
I'm back to share 2 cards ~

First up is a CAS card I created for this week's CASology Challenge #261 and the Cue Card is ‘Safari’

I used MFT Jungle Friends dies for the grass and giraffe and created the spots with my old punches :) The sentiment 'Stripe Greetings' is from SSS. I used Peerless Watercolors for the grass and added a few splatters for texture, and I also added clear embossing powder to the sentiment for some shine.

********************************

My 2nd card is for the current SSS Flickr Challenge and the theme is 'Splatter It' ~

I don't usually add splatters to my card, so it was fun to use them on both cards this week :)

I stamped the background with SSS Artsy Flower Parts in white EP and added distress inks. The sentiment is from the SSS 'You' stamp and die set.

So, that's it for me today...I hope everyone had a lovely weekend ~

CASology Challenge - 'Juicy'; CAS Watercolor August Challenge - 'Salt'

Hi there ~ I'm back to share 2 cards but before I do, I just want to thank you all for your sweet thoughts and lovely condolences since we had to say goodbye to our furry sidekick, Movado ~ You are all so kind!

***************************
First up is this week's CASology Challenge for the theme 'Juicy'!

There's nothing like a bowl of sweet and juicy fruit...especially at this time of year! So, I started with stenciling the front panel with PTI's 'Sunburst' in 2 shades of yellow, then used SSS 'You're So Sweet' stamps and dies for the fruit and sentiment. A good coat of Glossy Accents on everything and this card was finished :)

********************************

The theme for the August CAS Watercolor Challenge is 'Salt'. Loll and Bonnie provided several video tutorials for us, but I happened to have a video from Jen McGuire which I used for the galaxy background on this card:

It's difficult to see the effects of the salt (Sea Salt & Kosher Salt) on screen, but this background really sparkles in person! I also added a few teeny-tiny star gems which were part of a 'Happy Mail' package from my sweet friend Betty a few years ago :) I used Grout Gray for the card base and embossed it with PTI Linen/Canvas Impression Plate. The astronaut and sentiment are from MFT 'Space Explorer' set.
Here is a close up of the card:

Have a wonderful week ahead...Thanks so much for stopping by,

Addicted to CAS Challenge #117

Hi there blog friends,
It's time for another challenge at Addicted to CAS and this time I am playing Hostess! I thought long and hard about a code word and finally decided on 'One Layer Card' ~ challenging, right?

We also have an incredibly talented and super sweet Guest Designer ~ Pam Sparks!
And, don't forget that we always have a great prize for our winner and this time it's a $10.00 voucher from STAMPlorations

OK...on to my one layer card:

These blooms are called 'Fancy Flowers' and they're from MFT's December Card Kit. There are so many beautiful flowers in this set, and I think this one works well on a single layer and colored with Prismacolor Pencils. I didn't use Gamsol to blend the colors because I like the sketchy look with shades of gray. I also used Stone Gray cardstock for my card base, and this gorgeous Avery Elle Sentiment was a birthday gift from my dear friend, Loll! Thank you again, Loll...I love it!

If you would like to play along, stop over at the Addicted to CAS Challenge Blog ~

Thanks so much for stopping by,

CAS on Friday Challenge #113 & Muse

Hi there ~
Now that our children are grown and off on their own, our fur-baby, Movado, has become the focus of our love and attention...He was with us for 16 years (a very old man for his breed) and sadly, we had to say goodbye to him yesterday.
I was going to post this card yesterday, but instead spent most of the day with hubby and a box of Kleenex...what can I say...here is a photo of our little prince:

If you're old enough to remember The Little Rascals, then you're probably thinking that he looks just like Petey :) Movado was a great friend, and we will miss him very, very much!

***************************

The theme for the current challenge at CAS on Friday is 'Exotic'. While rummaging through my stash, I came across this PTI stamp set that I purchased from Laurie Willison several weeks ago...I hope these Palm Prints are exotic enough to meet the criteria for the challenge. I am also entering this card into this week's Muse Challenge ~ Anything Goes!

This is a 2-step stamping set so I used dye inks and gold EP. I die cut the sentiment in gold foil, added a few splatters and that was it!

Wishing you all a great weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by,
