ATSM Challenge #162 - Make Your Mark

Hi there ~
It's time for another fun challenge at Addicted to Stamps, and this time our theme is 'Make Your Mark'! That means you can use pencils, markers, inks or whatever you like to color with...

Our sponsor for this challenge is QKR Stampede, and they are offering three free digital stamps as a prize for the winner!

 Here is my first card:

A few weeks ago, I won a gift card from the Altenew Blog Hop, and I ordered this really pretty 'Hello' stamp called Quilled Elegance! I haven't played with my colored pencils in a long time, so I dusted them off, stamped my image onto Kraft cardstock with white pigment ink, and colored it in rainbow order.  I embossed the border with the MFT Stitched Rectangle from Blueprints 13 and matted the a2 panel with Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock.

*****

Two of my sweet blog friends gifted me with some goodies over the past few days, so I decided to create a second card:

So, for my 2nd card I attached the pink embossed panel which was sent to me by Michele (Thank you again!). I was having trouble working with the Zig Clean Color Brush Pens, and Betty suggested that I try Strathmore Bristol cardstock, and sent me a few sheets to try it out...well, let me tell you, what a difference! (Thank you Betty!). I'm loving the smooth finish on this paper, and for the first time, I enjoyed playing with my markers! I colored in the flowers, leaves and sentiment, and I'm very happy with how they turned out :) Lastly, I added a few PTI Rainstones and some Liquid Pearls to the centers of the flowers...and that was it!

I had a lot of fun creating my cards...If you also love coloring, come on over and check out all the beautiful inspiration by my teamies, and join in the fun at Addicted to Stamps Blog

I would also like to add the 2nd card to the Happy Little Stampers September CAS Challenge - Coloring. Thanks, Loll ;)

Have a great week, and thanks so much for stopping by,

Two beautiful cards Barb. Love the rainbow coloured Hello done with your pencils. And especially love the gorgeous zig colours flowers. I find mixed media paper works well with zigs too ... so maybe give that a try if you have some. Both these cards would be perfect for the HLS September CAS Challenge - Colouring. Hope you'll join us. xx

Both of these are so beautiful. I really love how you used white and colored pencils on your kraft card stock. That stamp is so pretty and your coloring really made it shine. And, your second card is so amazing. Those flowers--the water coloring--the pink..everything is just so scrumptious together. I think I need to try some of that Strathmore paper. Going to raid my daughter's supplies to see what she has.

There isn't a more beautiful way that embossed panel could be used, Barb... gorgeous little strip of it created a perfect home for my favorite flowers! I have used Strathmore water color paper ... not sure if it is Bristol, but I'm checking - seems like the results sing all the praise it needs! So gorgeous...

Oh wow!! Both of your cards are amazing Barb! Love the colored pencil on the kraft card stock! I need to try that! The flowers you colored with your Zigs are stunning! You did a gorgeous job on those! I have some old Bristle board from my art days, I need to get out and try with the Zigs! Beautiful work on these! (Hugs)

Oh Barb!! What stunning cards!! I LOVE the first one with the colored pencils. I need to dig mine out and do a few cards. The second is gorgeous!! I have the Bristol-did you actually use water on it or did you only color with the Zig markers? I am HORRIBLE with them and even though I have viewed tutorial after tutorial, I am kind of at a loss. Great take on all the challenges!

These are sensational, Barb! I especially love the second one and I appreciate the tip about the paper. I've gotten the Ziggies but haven't had the time to start playing ... I think I may have some of that paper, but if not, I will get some now that I know!! You did a brilliant job of coloring in both cards!! Hugs, Darnell

Love your cards, Barb! The first is so unique--love the pencils on kraft! Pink & green is one of my very favorite combos & your card is stunning!

2 beautiful cards Barb... every time I see someone coloring on kraft, I think I HAVE to try it, because I LOVE the look! You did a great job!

You have two beauties here, Barb. I love that fancy 'Hello" stamp and your coloring makes it shine. I know MIchele says those are her favorite flowers but they're mine, too. I wish I knew you were having trouble with your Zigs. I would have sent you some bristol board, too. I also use mixed-media paper but it is thinner and difficult to use as a die cut.

Gorgeous coloring on those flowers! I'm glad you found the right paper to use--amazing results!

These are both so fabulous Barb!! I love that stamp and it looks beautiful in the rainbow colours. Haven't tried my pencils on kraft yet. And how wonderful to find a good water colour paper. I don't particularly like the one I use either but its all I can get here. Your flowers are stunning and love the embossed hearts too.

I love the white outline and the colored pencils inside on your sentiment. Coloring on kraft is such a striking look, and you've pulled it off beautifully. I am all agog over your second card; those flowers are gorgeous. I have heard/seen some were on the web several people commenting that bristol is the best paper for blending those watercolor brush markers. I have some at home...looking forward to playing with my toys when I return to MD.
