July Twofer Challenge #18

Hi there, blog friends ~
Today I'm playing along with Darnell's Twofer Challenge  ~ I love playing along with this challenge, so I'm really glad I have a brand new stamp set with lots of beautiful flower silhouettes for my cards.

Sometimes I like to send a card to a friend or family member...Just Because. So for this 5x7 card, I started by masking the hills and ink blending the background in sunset colors with distress oxide inks. Once dried, I stamped the blooms and hills in black. I used my new antique frame and added a simple sentiment.

Unfortunately, not all of our cards are 'happy', so my 2nd card is for someone who needs a few prayers...

For this design, I'm channeling my inner 'Torico' ~
I started this card by ink blending the background with three shades of blue Altenew ink cubes. I used the darkest shade of blue to stamp one layer of flowers, then added a few more with Versamark and white embossing powder. I framed it with the Venice Lace die and dark blue cardstock...and that was it! Here's the photo I used for Darnell's challenge blog:

This is one of my all-time favorite challenges! Darnell always has a fun prompt and I love creating a 2nd card while I have my supplies out. Here are the rules:

You have the right touch with those blending utensils, Barb! That sunset card with the garden in silhouette looks like a photograph and I love the way you softly did an ombre blending for your beautiful prayer card! The matting and the framing on both designs work perfectly. Thank you for enthusiastically playing in Twofer Card Challenge #18! Hugs, Darnell

Barb, your ombre sunset with the antique framing around your silhouetted blooms is masterfully blended. Your second sympathy card exudes peace. Thank you for playing along with Twofer Card Challenge #18.

I like how your garden grows, Barb! The wildflowers are so pretty in the sunrise/sunset! Love how you've embossed and faintly stamped the garden on the second card. Wonderful depth!

Gosh, that sunset is so beautifully blended, Barb ... I can almost feel the residual heat of that setting sun from here ... the dark silhouette scene of your wildflower garden is so striking against it! Your prayers card is dreamy and so serene ... the drift of flowers is delicate and lovely ... and the sense of depth is fabulous! Thanks so much for playing along with us so faithfully at Twofer! Hugs, Anita :)

Two beautiful cards Barb! Love the gorgeous colours of your sunset behind the silhouette flowers. Your second card is so soft and delicate with the blue background and white flowers. Great work, my friend! xx

I love the backgrounds you've created on both cards, Bard! Your blending is incredible, and that sunset garden is as lovely as can be. That hill and those flowers in black really look great. That sky really highlights the pretty flowers. And the blue garden...oh my goodness! First, those absolutely perfect shades of blue you've chosen for the background are simply gorgeous. The blue flowers add a whole dimension, and help those white embossed flowers to really pop. Love the lace die, too. Great cards!! Thank you so much for joining us at the Twofer Challenge! Bev
