July Twofer Challenge - Butterflies

Hi there,
It's time for the July Twofer Challenge and as the conventional winner of the May Challenge, I am honored to be one of the Guest Designers! Thank you, Darnell! The prompt for this month is 'Butterflies' but first, let's go over the rules:

One of the things I enjoy most about this challenge is that I have two cards when I'm finished....Here is my first card:

I love the contrast of bright colors against black, so I used Copic markers in a rainbow pattern and framed the butterfly with a thin silver foil die-cut.

Card #2:

For my 2nd card, I wanted a more airy feel, so I used Brushos to watercolor the butterflies and vellum for the solid background die.

Lastly, a photo of both cards for the challenge blog:

Feel free to check out all the beautiful cards by the Design Team ~ The challenge runs until the 24th, so there is plenty of time to play along.

Thanks so much for stopping by,

Beautiful, Barb! The vibrant colours on the first put me in mind of stained glass ... looks as though there's light shining through them, it's gorgeous! In contrast, your second card is soft, serene and gentle ... lovely dreamy stencilling and wonderful ombré shading on the butterflies ... perfect for expressing sympathy. So delighted to have you Guest Designing with us at Twofer ... and inspiring our players so wonderfully! Hugs, Anita :)

Barb, you have created some beautiful butterflies. Love the bold colors with the black outline that stand front and center on your first card. The soft yellow flutterbys on your second card are so carefree. Lovely. Thank you for guest designing this month at Twofer Card Challenge.

Beautiful butterfly cards, Bard, and I can't decide which one I like better! The delicate silver frame around your rainbow butterfly is (pardon the pun)the perfect foil for him! CASimply gorgeous! And the yellow and orange pair looks like the sun is hitting them. Really lovely card. Thank you so much for joining us as Guest Designer for The Twofer Challenge! Sending hugs, Bev

Thank you for being our Guest Designer this month, Barb! I love your Twofer butterfly designs! Coloring the big butterfly in rainbow colors is fabulous (note to self!) and I love that you let it be the star of the show with your simple silver frame and sediment! And your airy sympathy card is going to bring much comfort to the bereaved. The soft colors are so pretty and I love the way you put the vellum underneath as the solid layer! (Note to self, since I've always done it the opposite way.) I not only get design inspiration every time I visit you, I learn something as well!! Keep well! Hugs, Darnell

These are both gorgeous. How creative to come up with such different cards from the same supplies--one so happy and one so somber.

There are few winged things I love as much as our sweet butterflies... or yours! So beautiful, Barb! That rainbow specimen is my fave - but you know I do love the magic a slip of vellum can add! xx

Great work with your two distinct designs Barb. Both are gorgeous. I doesn't even look like the same butterfly. Such a contrast between the deeply coloured rainbow butterly and the soft, delicate yellow with vellum butterfly. xx
